My Dad - Bryan Neil Volden recently passed away and I came across a Volden Family History Book. My Grandpa was Adolph "Duffy" Volden. He married Della and had my Dad ( Bryan Neil Volden) he married Solveig and they had me ( Rebecca & my sister Tiffany) and my Uncle Bruce married Jane and they had Oliver & Casey in OK Falls, BC.
I was born and raised in Abbotsford BC, then married Oscar and moved to Seattle, WA and we live here with our family now.
The Volden Family History Book is full of info... some true and some a little sketchy. What I can do is confirm that Gabriel's parents ( Thorvold ( nick name Thomas) Volden & Maret Guturms) They had a family of twelve. 3 infants died, one named Nels and two unknown. The nine remaining children were born in the US. They raised an adopted daughter Carolynn. Maret died in 1895 and is buried at Roseau Minn. Thomas died of cancer at the Sonstelie farm in Edmore, North Dakota in 1909.

2.Nels married Cristine Harris
3.Gabriel married Carrie Sorbo
4.Martin married Amy Legacie
5.Ole married Ida Stenerson
6.Envald died in 1892
7.Torvold died in 1904
8.Olena married Knute Levang
9.Dena died at teh age of eight months or one year eight months
10.Carolynn adopted daughter married Alsted
So I fall under Gabriel & Carrie Volden
Gabriel was born Dec 1871
Carrie Sorbo was born in Utica Minn. in 1880/81
They moved to Saskatchewan in 1910 to homestead. Which now is Moss Bank, SK
Carrie passed away Feb 17 1919 in Moose Jaw due to ruptured appendix.
Gabriel was left with 6 young kids to raise. He operated a second hand store in Moose Jaw then moved to Vancouver, BC and died at the age of 84 on Dec 12 1955. He and Carrie are buried at Mossbank Lutheran Cemetery.
Gabriel's children:
Gladys Marie married Ingvald Lenning who had Audrey, Robert, Carol, Margaret, Loretta & Donald. ( My Mom Solveig, says she remembers meeting Margaret & Audrey in years past)
Roy married Minerva
Adolph married Della
Clifford married Martha
Prudence married Harry Jensen
Pearl married MacLean
We have been in touch with Volden's under the Roy & Pearl side, but have wondered about the rest. I would love to share any info I have with you. This book is amazing. We recently adopted and when I read that Carolynn was adopted by Thomas & Maret, I was intrigued to find out the circumstances surrounding that?
